أَ لَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لا يَرْجِعُونَ

أ لم يروا كم أهلكنا قبلهم من القرون أنّهم إليهم لا يرجعون

Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum mina alqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoona

آيا نديده اند که چه مردمي را پيش از آنها هلاک کرده ايم که ديگر به نزدشان باز نمي گردند

آيا نينديشيده اند كه چه بسيار پيش از ايشان، نسلهايى را نابود كرديم كه آنان به سوى اينان باز نگشتند.

آيا (مردم، آثار شهرهاى ويران شده كافران را) نديدند؟ (و سرگذشت آنها را نشنيدند؟) چه بسيار از مردم قرون گذشته را (بكيفر كفرشان) هلاك كرديم كه ديگر كسى سراغ آنها را نميگيرد.

آیا [مشرکان مکه] ندانسته اند چه بسیار از اقوام پیش از آنان را [به سبب کفر و طغیانشان] هلاک کردیم که آنان هرگز نزد اینان برنمی گردند، [و در دنیا زندگی دوباره نمی یابند،]

آيا كفار مكه نديدند كه چه بسيار هلاك كرديم پيش از ايشان از مردم هر عصرى آنكه هلاك شدگان بسوى بازماندگان بازنمى‏گردند

مگر نديده‏اند كه چه بسيار نسلها را پيش از آنان هلاك گردانيديم كه ديگر آنها به سويشان بازنمى‏گردند؟

مگر نديدند كه چه مردمى را پيش از آنها هلاك كرديم و ديگر به نزدشان باز نمى‏گردند؟

آيا نديدند كه چه اقوام بسيارى پيش از ايشان را هلاك كرديم؟ كه بيگمان ايشان بسوى آنها باز نمى‏گردند.

آيا نديدند كه بسيار هلاك كرديم پيش از ايشان از قرنها كه ايشان بسوى اينان برنميگردند

آيا نينديشيده‏اند كه پيش از آنان چه بسيار نسلها را نابود كرديم كه آنان به سويشان باز نمى‏آيند؟

آیا ندیدند چقدر از اقوام پیش از آنان را (بخاطر گناهانشان) هلاک کردیم، آنها هرگز به سوی ایشان بازنمی‌گردند (و زنده نمی‌شوند)!

آيا نديده‏اند- به ديده بصيرت- كه پيش از آنان چه بسيار از مردم روزگاران را نابود كرديم كه آنان- هلاك‏شدگان- سوى اينان- به دنيا- باز نگردند؟

آيا نديدند كه بسيار هلاك كرديم پيش از ايشان از قرنها كه ايشان بسوى ايشان بر نمى‏گردند

آيا نديدند بسا نابود كرديم پيش از ايشان از قرنها كه آنان بسوى ايشان بازنگردند

آیا ندیدند چه بسیار طوایفی را پیش از اینها هلاک کردیم که دیگر ابدا به (دیار) اینان باز نگردند؟

آيا آنها نديدند كه چندين نسل را پيش از آنها هلاك كرديم و چگونه آنها هرگز نزدشان بازنمي گردند؟

Do they not see/understand how many We destroyed before them from the generations/peoples of eras/centuries, that they, to them they do not return?

Do they not see how many of the generations We have destroyed before them? Verily, they will not return to them.

What, have they not seen how many generations We have destroyed before them, and that it is not unto them that they return?

Are they not aware of how many a generation We have destroyed before their time, [and] that those [that have perished] will never return to them, [I.e., to the people now living. As in many other Quranic passages, the term qarn, which literally signifies a «generation» or «people living at the same period», has in this context the wider meaning of «society» or «civilization» in the historical connotation of these terms. Thus, the downfall and utter disappearance of past societies and civilizations is here linked to their spiritual frivolity and consequent moral failure. A further lesson to be drawn from this parable is the implied conclusion that the majority of people in every society, at all times (our own included), refuse to be guided by moral considerations, regarding them as opposed to their conventional mode of life and their pursuit of materialistic values – with the result that «never has an apostle come to them without their deriding him».]

Overwegen zij niet, hoeveel geslachten wij vr hen hebben verdelgd? Waarlijk, zij zullen niet tot hen terugkeeren.

Did they not see how many generations We destroyed before them, do they not go back to them?

Non hanno visto quante generazioni abbiamo fatto perire prima di loro? Esse non torneranno mai più [sulla terra].

Do they not see how many of the generations We have destroyed before them? Verily, they will not return to them.

Неужели они не видят, сколько поколений Мы погубили до них и что они не вернутся к ним?

Неужели они не знают, сколько поколений Мы погубили до них, так что они более не вернутся?

Do they not consider how many of the generations have We destroyed before them, because they do not turn to them?

Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which indeed returned not unto them;

Have they not seen how many generations we have, destroyed before them?

Görmediler mi, kendilerinden önce nice nesilleri helâk ettik! Onlar artık bir daha bunlara dönmeyecekler.

Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them? They shall never return to them,

Have they not reflected how many a generation We (Our Law of Requital) annihilated before them. They turned not to their Messengers and, hence, returned not to their lost glory.

Did they not see how many generations we annihilated before them, and how they never return to them?

See they not how many generations we have destroyed before them? Not to false gods is it that they shall be brought back,

Do they not consider how many generations we have destroyed before them? Verily they shall not return unto them:

Do they not see how many generations WE have destroyed before them, and that they never come back to them ?

Haben sie nicht gesehen, wie viele Geschlechter Wir schon vor ihnen vernichtet haben (und) daß sie nicht zu ihnen zurückkehren?

Ужель не видели они те поколения людей, ■ Которые до них Мы погубили? ■ Ужель не ведают, ■ Что никогда они к ним не вернутся?

Әйә хәзерге кәферләр күрмиләрме, белмиләрме, әүвәлге кәферләрдән күпме кәфер шәһәрләрен һәлак иттек, ул һәлак булган кәферләр, һәлак булмаган кәферләр янына терелеп кайтмаслар.

کیا انہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم نے ان سے پہلے بہت سے لوگوں کو ہلاک کردیا تھا اب وہ ان کی طرف لوٹ کر نہیں آئیں گے

کیا اِنہوں نے نہیں دیکھا کہ ہم نے اِن سے پہلے کتنی ہی قومیں ہلاک کر ڈالیں، کہ اب وہ لوگ ان کی طرف پلٹ کر نہیں آئیں گے،
