وَ لَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيما إِنْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ وَ جَعَلْنا لَهُمْ سَمْعاً وَ أَبْصاراً وَ أَفْئِدَةً فَما أَغْنى عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَ لا أَبْصارُهُمْ وَ لا أَفْئِدَتُهُمْ مِنْ شَيْ‏ءٍ إِذْ كانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِآياتِ اللَّهِ وَ حاقَ بِهِمْ ما كانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِؤُنَ

و لقد مكّنّاهم فيما إن مكّنّاكم فيه و جعلنا لهم سمعا و أبصارا و أفئدة فما أغنى عنهم سمعهم و لا أبصارهم و لا أفئدتهم من شي‏ء إذ كانوا يجحدون بآيات اللّه و حاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزؤن

Walaqad makkannahum feema in makkannakum feehi wajaAAalna lahum samAAan waabsaran waaf-idatan fama aghna AAanhum samAAuhum wala absaruhum wala af-idatuhum min shay-in ith kanoo yajhadoona bi-ayati Allahi wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oona

به آنها چنان مکانتي داده بوديم که به شما نداده ايم برايشان گوش و، چشم و دل قرار داديم ولي گوش و چشم و دلشان به حالشان هيچ سود نکرد ، زيرا آيات خدا را انکار مي کردند تا آنچه به مسخره اش مي گرفتند آنها رافرو گرفت

و به راستى به آنان در چيزهايى تمكن داده بوديم كه شما را آن تمكن نداده بوديم; و براى آنان گوشها و چشمها و دلها آفريده بوديم; اما گوشها و چشمها و دلهايشان سودى به حالشان نداد; چرا كه آيات الهى را انكار مى كردند و آنچه ريشخندش مى كردند، ايشان را فرو گرفت.

در حقيقت امكاناتى ما بآنان داده بوديم كه براى شما نداده‏ايم و براى آنان گوش شنوا و چشم بينا و دلى آگاه داده بوديم ولى گوش و چشم و دل، آنها را بى‏نياز از حقيقت نكرد زيرا آيات خدا را ناديده گرفتند و سرانجام آنچه را كه مورد تمسخر قرار ميدادند، سخت گرفتارشان ساخت

همانا ما به آنان در اموری قدرت و تمکن داده بودیم که شما را در آن امور چنان قدرت و نیرویی نداده ایم، و برای آنان گوش و چشم و دل قرار داده بودیم، ولی گوش و چشم و دلشان چیزی از عذاب را از آنان برطرف نکرد؛ زیرا همواره [با داشتن آن ابزار تشخیص] آیات ما را انکار می کردند، و سرانجام عذابی که همواره آن را مسخره می کردند، آنان را احاطه کرد.

و بعزتم سوگند كه حقا تمكن داده بوديم عاديان را در چيزهائى كه تمكن نداده‏ايم شما را در آن (از نيرو و شوكت و مانند آن) و قرار داديم براى آنان گوشى و ديدگانى و دلهائى پس دفع نكرد از ايشان گوششان و نه ديدگانشان و نه دلهاشان چيزى (از عذاب خدا) را زيرا ايشان همواره انكار مى‏كردند آيت‏ها (معجزات) خدا را و فرود آمد بديشان عذابى كه پيوسته به آن استهزاء مى‏كردند

و به راستى در چيزهايى به آنان امكانات داده بوديم كه به شما در آنها [چنان‏] امكاناتى نداده‏ايم، و براى آنان گوش و ديده‏ها و دلهايى [نيرومندتر از شما] قرار داده بوديم، و[لى‏] چون به نشانه‏هاى خدا انكار ورزيدند [نه‏] گوششان و نه ديدگانشان و نه دلهايشان، به هيچ وجه به دردشان نخورد، و آنچه ريشخندش مى‏كردند به سرشان آمد.

به آنها قدرتى داديم كه به شما نداديم و براى آنها گوش و چشم و دل قرار داديم، اما گوش و چشم و دل به حالشان سود نداشت، زيرا آيات خدا را انكار مى‏كردند، سرانجام آنچه را مسخره مى‏كردند آنها را در ميان گرفت.

و بيقين آنان را در [زمين‏] آن قوّت داديم كه شما را نداديم، و آنان را گوش [ها] و چشم‏ها و دل‏ها ساختيم. و گوشهايشان و چشم‏هايشان و دلهايشان آنان را از هيچ چيز بى نياز نكرد، چون به آيات خدا انكار مى‏آوردند، و رسيد به آنان [جزاى‏] آنچه بدان استهزا مى‏كردند.

و بتحقيق تمكن داديم ايشانرا در آنچه كه تمكن نداديم شما را در آن و قرار داديم براى ايشان گوش و ديده‏ها و دلها پس كفايت نكرد از ايشان گوششان و نه ديده هاشان و نه دلهاشان از چيزى چون بودند انكار مى‏ورزيدند به آيت‏هاى خدا و احاطه كرد ايشانرا آنچه بودند بآن استهزاء ميكردند

و به راستى آنان را در چيزهايى تمكّن داده بوديم كه شما را در آن تمكّن نداده‏ايم. و براى آنان گوش و چشمان و دلها قرار داده بوديم. پس از بس كه آيات خدا را انكار مى‏كردند گوش و چشمان و دلهايشان چيزى [از عذاب خدا] را از آنان دفع نكرد و [كيفر] آنچه كه آن را به ريشخند مى‏گرفتند آنان را فرو گرفت

ما به آنها [= قوم عاد] قدرتی دادیم که به شما ندادیم، و برای آنان گوش و چشم و دل قرار دادیم؛ (امّا به هنگام نزول عذاب) نه گوشها و چشمها و نه عقلهایشان برای آنان هیچ سودی نداشت، چرا که آیات خدا را انکار می‌کردند؛ و سرانجام آنچه را استهزا می‌کردند بر آنها وارد شد!

و هر آينه آنان (قوم عاد) را در چيزهايى جايگاه و توان داديم كه شما- كافران مكه- را در آنها آن توانايى نداده‏ايم و براى آنها گوش و ديدگان و دلها قرار داديم، ولى گوش و ديدگان و دلهاشان چيزى را از آنها كفايت نكرد و به كارشان نيامد، زيرا آيات خدا را انكار مى‏كردند و آنچه بدان استهزا مى‏كردند آنان را فروگرفت.

و بتحقيق تمكن داديم ايشان را در آنچه كه تمكن نداديم شما را در آن و قرار داديم براى ايشان گوش و ديده‏ها و دلها پس كفايت نكرد از ايشان گوششان و نه ديده هاشان و نه دلهاشان از چيزى چون بودند انكار مى‏ورزيدند به آيت‏هاى خدا و احاطه كرد ايشان را آنچه بودند بان استهزاء ميكردند

و هر آينه فرمانرواشان ساختيم در آنچه فرمانروا نساختيم شما را در آن و قرار داديم براى ايشان گوشى و ديدگانى و دلهائى پس بى نياز نكرد از ايشان گوششان و نه ديدگانشان و نه دلهاشان چيزى را گاهى كه بودند برابرى (پايمال) كردند آيتهاى خدا را و فرود آمد بديشان آنچه بودند بدان مسخره مى كردند

و به آن قوم عاد تمکین و قوتی دادیم که شما امت را چنان نیروی بدنی ندادیم و با آنکه بر آنها گوش و چشم و قلب مدرک قرار دادیم (تا با قوای ادراکی خداشناس شوند) هیچ این قوای مدرکه آنها را از عذاب نرهانید بدین جهت که آیات خدا را انکار می‌کردند، و آن عذابی که بدان استهزا می‌کردند به آنها فرا رسید.

ما آنها را مستقر كرده ايم، همان گونه كه شما را مستقر كرديم و به آنها شنوايي، بينايي و عقل داديم. ولي شنوايي، بينايي و عقل آنها هيچ كمكي به آنها نكرد. اين براي آنست كه آنها تصميم گرفتند آيات خدا را ناديده بگيرند. اين چنين، پيش بيني ها و اخطارهايي را كه مسخره كردند، باعث نابودي شان شده است.

And We had (E) highly positioned/strengthened them in what We have not highly positioned/strengthened you in it, and We made/put for them a sense of hearing , and eye sights, and hearts , so their sense of hearing , and nor their eye sights, and nor their hearts did not enrich/suffice from them a thing when they were disbelieving and denying with God’s evidences/verses ; and what they were with it mocking/making fun of surrounded/encircled with them.

And indeed We had firmly established them with that wherewith We have not established you (O Quraish)! And We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts, but their hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and their hearts availed them nothing since they used to deny the Ayat (Allahs Prophets and their Prophethood, proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, and they were completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

And We had established them in that wherein We have not established you, and We appointed for them hearing, and sight, and hearts; and yet their hearing, their sight and their hearts availed them nothing, since they denied the signs of God, and they were encompassed by that they mocked at.

And yet, We had established them securely in a manner in which We have never established you, [O people of later times;] [This relates in the first instance to the pagan contemporaries of the Prophet, but applies to later generations as well. The tribe of
Ad was the unchallenged lords in the vast region in which they lived (cf. 89:8 – «the like of whom has never been reared in all the land»). Moreover, the social conditions of their time were so simple and so free of the many uncertainties and dangers which beset people of higher civilizations that they could be regarded as more «securely established» on earth than people of later, more complex times.] and We had endowed them with hearing, and sight, and [knowledgeable] hearts: [I.e., intellect and feeling, both of which are comprised in the noun fuad.] but neither their hearing, nor their sight, nor their hearts were of the least avail to them, seeing that they went on rejecting God’s messages; and [in the end] they were overwhelmed [Lit., «enfolded».] by the very thing which they had been wont to deride.

Wij hebben hen in denzelfden, gelukkigen staat als u geplaatst, o bewoners van Mekka! en wij hebben hun ooren, oogen en harten gegeven; maar noch hunne ooren, noch hunne oogen, noch hunne harten, die hun van eenig voordeel waren, toen zij de teekenen van God verwierpen; maar de wraak welke zij hadden bespot, kwam op hen neder.

And We had established them in the same way as We established you, and provided them with the hearing, and the eyesight, and the heart. But their hearing, eyesight, and hearts did not help them at all. This is because they used to disregard God’s revelations, and they were stricken by that which they used to mock!

Avevamo dato loro mezzi che a voi non abbiamo dato. Avevamo donato loro l’udito, gli occhi e i cuori, ma il loro udito i loro occhi e i loro cuori non giovarono loro, perché negavano i segni di Allah. Li avvolse ciò di cui si burlavano.

And indeed We had firmly established them with that wherewith We have not established you (O Quraish)! And We had assigned them the (faculties of) hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts, but their hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and their hearts availed them nothing since they used to deny the Ayat (Allahs Prophets and their Prophethood, proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, and they were completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

Мы укрепили их в том, в чем не укрепляли вас, и даровали им слух, зрение и сердца. Но ни их слух, ни их зрение, ни их сердца нисколько не помогли им, поскольку они отвергали знамения Аллаха, и их окружило (или поразило) то, над чем они насмехались.

Мы укрепили их так, как не укрепляли вас: Мы даровали им [отличный] слух, зрение и сердца. Но ни слух, ни зрение, ни сердца ничуть не помогли им, поскольку они отвергли знамения Аллаха. И постигло их то, над чем они глумились.

And certainly We had established them in what We have not established you in, and We had given– them ears and eyes and hearts, but neither their ears, nor their eyes, nor their hearts availed them aught, since they denied the communications of Allah, and that which they mocked encompassed them.

And verily We had empowered them with that wherewith We have not empowered you, and had assigned them ears and eyes and hearts; but their ears and eyes and hearts availed them naught since they denied the revelations of Allah; and what they used to mock befell them.

We had established them in what we have established you, and we made for them hearing and eyesight and hearts; but neither their hearing nor their eyesight nor their hearts availed them aught, since they did gainsay the signs of God, and that encompassed them whereat they had mocked.

Yemin olsun, onlara, size vermediğimiz imkân ve kudreti vermiştik. Onlar için işitme gücü, gözler ve gönüller oluşturmuştuk. Fakat, işitme güçleri de gözleri de gönülleri de kendilerine hiçbir yarar sağlamadı/kendilerinden hiçbir şeyi uzaklaştıramadı; çünkü ayetlerimize karşı direniyorlardı. Ve alaya aldıkları şey, onları kuşatıp sardı.

And We had established them in that which We have not established you, and We made for them hearing, sight, and hearts, but their hearing, sight, and hearts did not help them a thing, because they disbelieved the signs of Allah. And what they mocked encompassed them.

And verily, We had established them in the land better than We ever established you, and We had given them keen faculties of hearing, sight and intellect. But of no avail to them were there hearing and sight and intellect when they went on knowingly rejecting Allah’s Messages. And so, the very thing they used to mock at surrounded them. (‹Fuad›, plural ‹Afidah›, includes the faculties of intellect, reasoning, insight and feelings (45:23)).

We had established them in the same way as we established you, and provided them with hearing, eyes, and minds. But their hearing, eyes, and minds did not help them at all. This is because they decided to disregard GOD’s revelations. Thus, the prophecies and warnings that they ridiculed have caused their doom.

With power had we endued them, even as with power have we endued you; and we had given them ears and eyes and hearts: yet neither their eyes, nor their ears, nor their hearts aided them at all, when once they gainsaid the signs of God; but that punishment which they had mocked at enveloped them on all sides.

We had established them in the like flourishing condition wherein We have established you, O men of Mecca; and We had given them ears, and eyes, and hearts: Yet neither their ears, nor their eyes, nor their hearts profited them at all, when they rejected the signs of God; but the vengeance which they mocked at, fell upon them.

And WE had established them in that wherein WE have not established you; and WE gave them ears and eyes and hearts. But their ears and their eyes and their hearts availed them naught, since they denied the Signs of ALLAH; and that at which they used to mock encompassed them.

Wir hatten ihnen Gewalt gegeben über das, worüber Wir euch keine gegeben haben; und Wir hatten ihnen Ohren und Augen und Herzen gegeben. Aber weder ihre Ohren noch ihre Augen noch ihre Herzen nützten ihnen im geringsten, da sie die Zeichen Allahs leugneten; und das, worüber sie zu spotten pflegten, fiel auf sie.

Мы утвердили их (во благе и) у власти, ■ Которую Мы вам не дали, ■ И обеспечили их слухом, зрением и сердцем, ■ Но ни к чему не послужили им ■ Ни слух, ни зрение, ни сердце, ■ Так как они отвергли все знамения Аллаха; ■ И поразило их со всех сторон, ■ Над чем они в сей жизни насмехались.

Без Һуд кавеменә озын гомер, куәтле гәүдә вә күп мал һәм торырга урын да биргән идек, ә инде сез Коръәнгә ышанмаучы кәферләр, аларга бирелгән артыклык сезгә бирелмәде. Ләкин һәммә кешегә бертигез биргәне: Без ышанмаучыларга да колак, күз, күңел бирдек, аларның исә колаклары, күзләре һәм күңелләре аларга һич тә файда бирмәде, чөнки алар Аллаһуның аятьләрен инкяр итәр булдылар, аларга хакны мәсхәрә итүләренең ґәзабы инде.

اور ہم نے ان کو ایسے مقدور دیئے تھے جو تم لوگوں کو نہیں دیئے اور انہیں کان اور آنکھیں اور دل دیئے تھے۔ تو جب کہ وہ خدا کی آیتوں سے انکار کرتے تھے تو نہ تو ان کے کان ہی ان کے کچھ کام آسکے اور نہ آنکھیں اور نہ دل۔ اور جس چیز سے استہزاء کیا کرتے تھے اس نے ان کو آ گھیرا

(اے اہلِ مکہّ!) درحقیقت ہم نے ان کو ان امور میں طاقت و قدرت دے رکھی تھی جن میں ہم نے تم کو قدرت نہیں دی اور ہم نے انہیں سماعت اور بصارت اور دل و دماغ (کی بے بہا صلاحیتوں) سے نوازا تھا مگر نہ تو ان کے کان ہی ان کے کچھ کام آسکے اور نہ ان کی آنکھیں اور نہ (ہی) ان کے دل و دماغ جبکہ وہ اﷲ کی نشانیوں کا انکار ہی کرتے رہے اور (بالآخر) اس (عذاب) نے انہیں آگھیرا جس کا وہ مذاق اڑایا کرتے تھے،
