نَحْنُ جَعَلْناها تَذْكِرَةً وَ مَتاعاً لِلْمُقْوِينَ

نحن جعلناها تذكرة و متاعا للمقوين

ما آن را هشداري و براي مسافران رهنورد ، متاعي ساختيم

ما آن را پندآموزى ساخته ايم و توشه اى براى رهروان.

ما آتش را مايه عبرت و نيز متاعى براى استفاده مسافران قرار داديم.

ما آن را وسیله تذکر و مایه استفاده برای صحرانشینان و بیابانگردان قرار داده ایم.

ما قرار داديم آن آتش را ياد آورنده‏اى (از آتش دوزخ) و بهره‏اى براى مسافران

ما آن را [مايه‏] عبرت و [وسيله‏] استفاده براى بيابانگردان قرار داده‏ايم.

ما آن را يادآورى و وسيله زندگى براى مسافران قرار داديم.

ما آن را [مايه‏] پندى و متاعى براى مسافران ساختيم.

ما گردانيديم آنرا يادآورى و مايه تعيش براى نيرومندان

ما آن را [مايه‏] پندى و منفعتى براى رهگذران قرار داده‏ايم

ما آن را وسیله یادآوری (برای همگان) و وسیله زندگی برای مسافران قرار داده‌ایم!

ما آن را يادكردى ساختيم- كه چون آن را ببينند آتش دوزخ را ياد كنند- و كالايى براى صحرانشينان.

ما گردانيديم آنرا يادآورى و مايه تعيش براى نيرومندان

ما گردانيديمش يادآورى و بهره اى براى نيازمندان

ما آن را مایه پند و عبرت و توشه مسافران (کوه و بیابان عالم) گردانیدیم.

ما آن را تذكري قرار داديم و وسيله اي قابل استفاده براي استفاده كنندگان.

We made it a reminder and a long life/enjoyment to the hungry/starving .

Hence, muqw denotes «one who is hungry» as well as «one who is lost [or «who wanders»] in a deserted place». In the above verse this expression is evidently used tropically, for it is difficult to imagine that, as some commentators assume, it relates merely to «wayfarers in the desert». My composite rendering of al-muqwin as «all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness», on the other hand, is literal and tropical at the same time, inasmuch as it describes people who are lonely, unfortunate and confused, and who hunger after human warmth and spiritual light.]
