فَلَوْ لا كانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ أُولُوا بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسادِ فِي الأَْرْضِ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً مِمَّنْ أَنْجَيْنا مِنْهُمْ وَ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ما أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَ كانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ

فلو لا كان من القرون من قبلكم أولوا بقيّة ينهون عن الفساد في الأرض إلاّ قليلا ممّن أنجينا منهم و اتّبع الّذين ظلموا ما أترفوا فيه و كانوا مجرمين

Falawla kana mina alqurooni min qablikum oloo baqiyyatin yanhawna AAani alfasadi fee al-ardi illa qaleelan mimman anjayna minhum waittabaAAa allatheena thalamoo ma otrifoo feehi wakanoo mujrimeena

چرا در ميان مردماني که پيش از شما بودند جز اندکي که از آن ميان نجاتشان داديم خردمنداني نبودند تا مردمان را از فساد کردن در زمين باز دارند؟ ظالمان از پي آسودگي و لذات دنيوي رفتند و گنهکار بودند

از چه رو در ميان اقوامى كه پيش از شما بودند خردمندانى نبودند كه از فساد در روى زمين نهى كنند; مگر گروهى اندك از خود آنان كه نجاتشان داده بوديم; حال آنكه ستم پيشگان [مشرك] دل در ناز و نعمتى كه يافته بودند، بسته بودند، و گنهكار بودند.

چرا در ميان مردم قرون گذشته گروهى عاقل و با ايمان نبودند كه مردم را از ايجاد فساد در زمين جلوگيرى كنند؟ مگر عده كمى، كه ما آنها را از عذاب نجات داديم و ستمكاران دنبال خوشگذرانيهاى خودشان بودند و مجرم و گناهكار شدند.

پس چرا در میان امت هایی که پیش از شما بودند، مصلحانی دلسوز نبودند که [مردم را] از فساد در زمین بازدارند؟ مگر اندکی که [به سبب بازداشتن مردم از فساد] نجاتشان دادیم. و آنان که ستم کردند، دنباله رو [و دل بسته] چیزی از نعمت و ثروت شدند [که در آن به سرکشی و طغیان افتادند] و آنان گنهکار بودند.

پس چرا نبود از مردم قرنها كه پيش از شما بودند خردمندانى كه باز دارند (تباهكاران را) از تباهى كردن در زمين مگر اندكى از كسانى كه (از عذاب) نجات داديم از آنان (كه نهى مى‏كردند) و پيروى كردند آنانكه ستم كردند لذتهائى را كه كامرانى نمودند در آن و بودند مردمى بزهكار

پس چرا از نسلهاى پيش از شما خردمندانى نبودند كه [مردم را] از فساد در زمين باز دارند؟ جز اندكى از كسانى كه از ميان آنان نجاتشان داديم. و كسانى كه ستم كردند به دنبال ناز و نعمتى كه در آن بودند رفتند، و آنان بزهكار بودند.

چرا در امتهاى پيش از شما- جز اندكى از نجات يافتگان- خردمندانى نبودند كه مانع فساد در زمين شوند و آنان كه ستم پيشه كردند پيرو لذّتهاى خود شدند و گناهكار بودند،

پس چرا از ميان امّت‏هاى، پيش از شما، خردمندانى نبودند كه در زمين از فساد نهى كنند مگر كسانى اندك از ميان آنها، كه نجاتشان داديم. و كسانى كه ستم كردند، پيروى كردند، آنچه را كه در آن [از شهوات‏] برخوردار مى‏شدند، و [آنها] مجرمان بودند.

پس چرا نبودند از قرنها پيش از شما صاحبان فضل كه نهى كنند از فساد در زمين مگر اندكى از آنان كه رهانيديم از ايشان و پيروى كردند آنان كه ستم كردند آنچه را متنعم كرده شدند در آن و بودند گناهكاران

پس چرا از امتهاى پيش از شما خردمندانى نبودند كه از فساد در زمين باز دارند؟ مگر اندكى از آنان كه نجاتشان داديم. و ستمكاران به دنبال ناز و نعمتى افتادند كه از آن بهره‏مند بودند و گناهكار بودند

چرا در قرون (و اقوام) قبل از شما، دانشمندان صاحب قدرتی نبودند که از فساد در زمین جلوگیری کنند؟! مگر اندکی از آنها، که نجاتشان دادیم! و آنان که ستم می‌کردند، از تنعّم و کامجوئی پیروی کردند؛ و گناهکار بودند (و نابود شدند)!

پس چرا در ميان مردمانى كه پيش از شما بودند، جز اندكيشان كه آنان را [از عذاب‏] رهانيديم، خردمندان و نيكان بافضيلتى نبودند كه از تباهكارى در زمين باز دارند؟ و كسانى كه ستم كردند در پى آنچه در آن كامرانى يافتند رفتند- از آرزوهاى نفس پيروى كرده همه كوشش خود را صرف به دست آوردن اسباب شهوات گردانيدند- و بزهكار بودند.

پس چرا نبودند از قرنها پيش از شما صاحبان فضل كه نهى كنند از فساد در زمين مگر اندكى از آنان كه رهانيديم از ايشان و پيروى كردند آنان كه ستم كردند آنچه را متنعم كرده شدند در آن و بودند گناهكاران

پس چرا نبود از قرنهاى پيش از شما بازماندگانى كه نهى كنند از تباه كارى در زمين مگر كمى از آنان كه نجات داديم از ايشان و پيروى كردند ستمگران آنچه را كامرانى نمودند در آن و شدند بزهكاران

پس چرا در امم گذشته مردمی با عقل و ایمان وجود نداشت که (خلق را) از فساد و اعمال زشت نهی کنند مگر عده قلیلی که نجاتشان دادیم، و ستمکاران از پی تعیّش به نعمتهای دنیوی رفتند و مردمی فاسق بدکار بودند.

اگر فقط عده اي از نسل هاي گذشته به اندازه كافي بادرايت بودند تا از پليدي منع كنند! فقط تعداد كمي از آنها سزاوار نجات ما شدند. و اما ستمكاران به تجملات دنيوي خود سرگرم شدند؛ آنها گناهكار بودند.

So where it not for (owners) of a remainder/remnant , from the generations/centuries from before you, (who were) forbidding/preventing from the corruption in the earth/Planet Earth, except a few from whom We saved/rescued from them; and those who caused injustice/oppression followed what they were luxuriated ungrateful and arrogant in it, and they were criminals/sinners .

If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).

Or if there had been, of the generations before you, men of a remainder forbidding corruption in the earth — except a few of those whom We delivered of them; but the evildoers followed the ease they were given to exult in and became sinners.

BUT, ALAS, among those generations [whom We destroyed] before your time there were no people endowed with any virtue'» – [people] who would speak out against the [spread of] corruption on earth -except the few of them whom We saved [because of their righteousness], whereas those who were bent on evildoing only pursued pleasures which corrupted their whole being, and so lost themselves in sinning.

Waren degene van de geslachten voor u, begiftigd met verstand en deugd, welke verboden goddeloos op aarde te handelen, meer dan slechts eenigen van hen, welke wij bevrijdden? Maar zij, die onrechtvaardig waren, volgden de geneugten, welke zij op deze wereld genoten, en waren goddeloozen,

If only there was from the previous generations a people with wisdom who deterred from the corruption on Earth, except the few that We saved of them. And those who were wicked followed the enjoyment they were in, and they were criminal.

Perché mai, tra le generazioni che vi precedettero, le persone virtuose che proibivano la corruzione della terra (e che salvammo) erano poco numerose, mentre gli ingiusti si davano al lusso di cui godevano e furono criminali?

If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).

Если бы только среди поколений, живших до вас, были мудрые люди, которые выступали бы против нечестия на земле. Такими были лишь немногие из числа тех, кого Мы спасли. А беззаконники последовали за тем, что было даровано им, и стали грешниками.

Почему же среди поколений, живших до вас, оказалось совсем немного достойных людей, выступавших против нечестия, – из числа тех, которых Мы спасли? А те, которые были нечестивы, предпочли дарованные им [мирские блага] и стали [тем самым] грешниками.

But why were there not among the generations before you those possessing understanding, who should have forbidden the making of mischief in the earth, except a few of those whom We delivered from among them? And those who were unjust went after what they are made to enjoy of plenty, and they were guilty.

If only there had been among the generations before you men possessing a remnant (of good sense) to warn (their people) from corruption in the earth, as did a few of those whom We saved from them! The wrong-doers followed that by which they were made sapless, and were guilty.

And were there among the generations before you any endowed with a remnant (of piety) forbidding evildoing in the earth, save a few of those whom we saved; but the evildoers followed what they enjoyed, and were sinners.

Sizden önceki kuşakların söz ve eser sahibi olanları, yeryüzünde bozgunculuktan alıkoymalı değiller miydi? Ama içlerinden kurtarmış olduklarımızın az bir kısmı dışında hiçbiri bunu yapmadı. Zulme sapanlar ise içine gömüldükleri servet şımarıklığının ardına düşüp suçlular haline geldiler.

If (only) there had been except for a few among them whom We saved among the generations that have gone before you, some that remained forbidding corruption in the land, but the wrongdoers pursued the ease they had been given to delight in and became sinners.

(Here is a lesson for the future of humanity.) Alas, among the older generations there were few people of virtue, those who would take a stand against corruption and disorder in the land. Except the few whom We saved for their righteousness. Whereas most people indulged in violation of human rights, enjoying the fleeting delights of the world and thriving on the fruit of others› toil.

If only some of those among the previous generations possessed enough intelligence to forbid evil! Only a few of them deserved to be saved by us. As for the transgressors, they were preoccupied with their material luxuries; they were guilty.

Were the generations before you, endued with virtue, and who forbad corrupt doings on the earth, more than a few of those whom we delivered? but the evil doers followed their selfish pleasures, and became transgressors.

Were such of the generations before you, indued with understanding and virtue, who forbad the acting corruptly in the earth, any more than a few only of those whom We delivered? But they who were unjust followed the delights which they enjoyed in this world, and were wicked doers:

Why, then, were there not among the generations before you persons possessed of understanding, who would have forbidden corruption in the earth, except a few among them whom WE saved ? But the wrongdoers pursued the enjoyment of the good things which they were given in plenty, and they became guilty.

Warum waren denn unter den Geschlechtern vor euch nicht Leute von Verstand, die der Verderbtheit auf Erden hätten steuern können – ausgenommen einige wenige derer, die Wir aus ihrer Zahl erretteten? Doch die Frevler folgten dem, was ihnen Genuß und Behagen versprach, und sie wurden schuldig.

Но почему же не было из поколений прежде вас Таких, ■ Кто, обладая добродетельной (душою), ■ Мог на земле нечестие сдержать, ■ Помимо лишь немногих, ■ Кого спасли Мы милостью Своей? ■ Но нечестивые пошли за удовольствиями этой жизни – ■ И стали грешными (пред Нами).

Кәшки булсачы арагызда сездән әүвәл һәлак булган каумләрдән калган гакыл белем ияләре, кешеләрне җир өстендә бозыклык кылудан тыяр иделәр, мәгәр алар арасыннан азларын гына ґәзабтан коткардык, кешеләргә әмер мәгъруф кылганнары өчен. Әмма залимләр үзләренә бирелгән дөнья байлыгына гына иярделәр һәм, азып, кәфер булдылар.

تو جو اُمتیں تم سے پہلے گزر چکی ہیں، ان میں ایسے ہوش مند کیوں نہ ہوئے جو ملک میں خرابی کرنے سے روکتے ہاں (ایسے) تھوڑے سے (تھے) جن کو ہم نے ان میں سے مخلصی بخشی۔ اور جو ظالم تھے وہ ان ہی باتوں کے پیچھے لگے رہے جس میں عیش وآرام تھا اور وہ گناہوں میں ڈوبے ہوئے تھے

سو تم سے پہلے کی امتوں میں ایسے صاحبانِ فضل و خرد کیوں نہ ہوئے جو لوگوں کو زمین میں فساد انگیزی سے روکتے بجز ان میں سے تھوڑے سے لوگوں کے جنہیں ہم نے نجات دے دی، اور ظالموں نے عیش و عشرت (کے اسی راستے) کی پیروی کی جس میں وہ پڑے ہوئے تھے اور وہ (عادی) مجرم تھے،
