أَلاَّ تَعْلُوا عَلَيَّ وَ أْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ

ألاّ تعلوا عليّ و أتوني مسلمين

Alla taAAloo AAalayya wa/toonee muslimeena

بر من برتري مجوييد و به تسليم نزد من بياييد

حاكى از اينكه بر من سركشى مكنيد و با من از در تسليم درآييد.

بر من برترى مجوئيد و اطاعت‏كنان پيش من بيائيد (و سر تسليم فرود آوريد).

و [مضمونش این است که] بر من برتری می ویید و همه با حالت تسلیم نزد من آیید.

بزرگى مكنيد بر من و بيائيد به نزد من در حاليكه تسليم شونده باشيد

بر من بزرگى مكنيد و مرا از در اطاعت درآييد.»

در صدد استيلاى بر من نباشيد و تسليم نزد من بياييد.»

[و مضمون آن اين است كه‏] بر من برترى مجوييد و گردن نهادگان پيش من بياييد.

كه برترى نجوئيد بر من و بيائيد مرا منقادان

[با اين متن‏] كه: بر من سركشى مكنيد و فرمانبردار به نزد من آييد

توصیه من این است که نسبت به من برتری‌جویی نکنید، و بسوی من آیید در حالی که تسلیم حقّ هستید!»

[به اين مضمون‏] كه بر من برترى مجوييد و به نزد من آييد گردن‏نهادگان.

كه برترى نجوئيد بر من و بيائيد مرا منقادان

كه برترى نجوئيد بر من و بيائيد مرا تسليم شوندگان

(و بعد چنین نگاشته) که بر من برتری مجویید و تسلیم امر من شوید.

That do not become high, mighty and dignified over me, and come to me (as) Moslems/submitters .

«Be you not exalted against me, but come to me as Muslims (true believers who submit to Allah with full submission) »

Rise not up against me, but come to me in surrender.» ‹

[God says:] Exalt not yourselves against Me, but come unto Me in willing surrender!› » [My interpolation, at the beginning of this verse, of the words «God says» is based on the fact that, within the context of the above legend, the information brought by the hoopoe is the very first link between the kingdoms of Sheba and of Solomon. In the absence of any previous contact, hostile or otherwise, there would have been no point whatever in Solomon’s telling the people of Sheba that they should not «exalt themselves» against or above himself. On the other hand, the narrative of the hoopoe makes it clear that the Sabaeans did «exalt themselves» against God by worshipping the sun and by being convinced «that they ought not to worship God» (verses 24 – 25 above). Hence, Solomon, being a prophet, is justified in calling upon them, in the name of God, to abandon this blasphemy and to surrender themselves to Him. (Cf. the almost identical phrase, «Exalt not yourselves against God», in 44:19.)]

Staat niet op tegen mij, maar komt en geeft u aan mij over.

Saying: exalt not yourselves against me and come to me in submission.

Exalt not yourselves against me, but come unto me as those who surrender.

Do not rise up against me, but come to me resigned!»‹

«Söylediği şu: Bana büyüklük taslamaya kalkmayın. Teslim olarak huzuruma gelin.»

Do not rise up against me, but come to me in surrender (Muslims).»

‹Exalt not yourselves against me, but come to me as those who surrender.'» (The Kingdom of Queen Bilqis Sheba of Yemen-Abyssinia had hostile plans towards the North).

«Proclaiming: `Do not be arrogant; come to me as submitters.› «

Set not up yourselves against me, but come to me submitting (Muslims).› »

rise not up against me: But come, and surrender yourselves unto me.

`Behave not arrogantly towards me, but come to me in submission.›

Seid nicht überheblich gegen mich, sondern kommet zu mir in Ergebenheit.»»

Против меня надменными и дерзкими не будьте, ■ Ко мне в смирении покорном приходите!»

Миңа тәкәбберлек итмәгез, итагать иткәнегез хәлдә миңа килегез», – дип язылган диде.

(بعد اس کے یہ) کہ مجھے سرکشی نہ کرو اور مطیع ومنقاد ہو کر میرے پاس چلے آؤ

(اس کامضمون یہ ہے) کہ تم لوگ مجھ پر سربلندی (کی کوشش) مت کرو اور فرمانبردار ہو کر میرے پاس آجاؤ،
