وَ كانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الأَْرْضِ وَ لا يُصْلِحُونَ

و كان في المدينة تسعة رهط يفسدون في الأرض و لا يصلحون

Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee al-ardi wala yuslihoona

در شهر نه مرد ناصالح بودند که در آن سرزمين فساد مي کردند نه اصلاح

و در شهر نه تن بودند كه در آن سرزمين به فساد مى پرداختند و هيچ كار شايسته اى نمى كردند.

و در آن شهر نه طايفه شرور وجود داشت كه در زمين ايجاد فساد ميكردند و در پى اصلاح آن نبودند.

در آن شهر نُه نفر از اشراف و سران بودند که در آن فساد می کردند و اصلاح گر نبودند،

و بودند در شهر صالح نه نفر (از اشرار) كه تباهى مى‏كردند در سرزمين حجر و اصلاح نمى‏كردند آن نه تن

و در آن شهر، نُه دسته بودند كه در آن سرزمين فساد مى‏كردند و از در اصلاح درنمى‏آمدند.

يك گروه نه نفره ناصالح از آن شهر كه در زمين فساد مى‏كردند

و در شهر نه طايفه [يا نه تن‏] بودند كه در زمين فساد مى‏كردند و كار نيك نمى‏كردند.

و بود در شهر نه نفر كه افساد مى‏كردند در زمين و اصلاح نميكردند

و در [آن‏] شهر نه كس بودند كه در آن سرزمين فساد مى‏كردند و در اصلاح نمى‏كوشيدند

و در آن شهر، نه گروهک بودند که در زمین فساد می‌کردند و اصلاح نمی‌کردند.

و در آن شهر نه مرد- يا نه گروه- بودند كه در زمين تباهى مى‏كردند و شايسته‏كار و درست‏كردار نبودند.

و بود در شهر نه نفر كه افساد ميكردند در زمين و اصلاح نميكردند

و بودند در شهر نه تيره كه تبهكارى مى كردند در زمين و اصلاح نمى كردند

و در شهرستان قوم صالح نه (نفر از رؤسای) قبیله بودند که دائم در زمین به فتنه و فساد می‌پرداختند و هرگز قدمی به صلاح (خلق) بر نمی‌داشتند.

در آن شهر نه تبهكار بودند كه فساد مي ‌كردند و هرگز كار خيري انجام نمي ‌دادند.

And in the city/town were nine groups/tribes corrupting/disordering in the earth/Planet Earth, and they do not correct/repair .

And there were in the city nine men (from the sons of their chiefs), who made mischief in the land, and would not reform.

Now in the city there were nine persons who did corruption in the land, and put not things right;

Now there were in the city nine men who were wont to commit deeds of depravity all over the land, and would not reform; [Or «nine clans», since, in the above context, the term raht is liable to either of these two interpretations. The «city» referred to is evidently the region known as Al-Hijr, in northern Hijaz (cf. surah 7:73). In contrast with the preceding story of the Queen of Sheba’s eager way to faith, the stories of the tribe of Thamud and (in verses 54 -58) of Lot’s people are meant to call attention to the hostility which a call to righteousness so often evokes in people who are strong but vain, or, alternatively, weak and addicted to senseless passions.]

En er waren negen menschen in de stad, die schandelijk op de aarde handelden en zich in niets met rechtschapenheid gedroegen.

And in the city were nine ruffians who were causing corruption in the land, and they were not reforming.

In the city there were nine people who were corrupting the land and did not reform.

Now there was a gang of nine leaders in the city who spread disorder in the land, and blocked all reform.

There were nine gangsters in the city who were wicked, and never did anything good.

And there were in the city nine persons who committed excesses in the land and did not that which is right.

And there were nine men in the city, who acted corruptly in the earth, and behaved not with integrity.

And there were in the city a party of nine persons who made mischief in the land, and who would not reform.

Und es waren in der Stadt neun Leute, die Unheil im Lande stifteten, und sie wollten sich nicht bessern.

А были в городе том девять человек, ■ Которые на той земле нечестие творили, ■ Никак к благому не стремясь.

Сәмудләрнең шәһәрендә тугыз ир бар иде, алар җир өстендә төрле бозыклыкны кыла иделәр, әмма һичбер эшне төзәтмәс иделәр.

اور شہر میں نو شخص تھے جو ملک میں فساد کیا کرتے تھے اور اصلاح سے کام نہیں لیتے تھے

اور (قومِ ثمود کے) شہر میں نو سرکردہ لیڈر (جو اپنی اپنی جماعتوں کے سربراہ) تھے ملک میں فساد پھیلاتے تھے اور اصلاح نہیں کرتے تھے،
