فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَ هُوَ مُلِيمٌ
فالتقمه الحوت و هو مليم
Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun
ماهي ببلعيدش و او در خور سرزنش بود
و ماهى [بزرگ/نهنگ] او را فرو بلعيد و او در خور ملامت بود.
نهنگى او را بكام خود فرو برد و او، سزاوار سرزنش و ملامت بود.
پس آن ماهی بزرگ او را بلعید، در حالی که سزاوار سرزنش بود.
و فرو برد او را ماهى در حاليكه او مستحق ملامت شد
[او را به دريا افكندند] و عنبرماهى او را بلعيد در حالى كه او نكوهشگر خويش بود!
و ماهى عظيم او را بلعيد و او در خور سرزنش بود
پس [ماهى] او را بلعيد، و او [به سبب كارى كه بى فرمان خدا كرده بود] سزاوار ملامت بود.
پس فرو بردش ماهى و او بود ملامت كننده
آن گاه ماهى او را فرو بلعيد و او سزاوار نكوهش بود
(او را به دریا افکندند) و ماهی عظیمی او را بلعید، در حالی که مستحقّ سرزنش بود!
پس آن ماهى او را بلعيد و او در خور سرزنش بود- يا ملامتكننده خود بود-.
پس فرو بردش ماهى و او بود ملامت كننده
پس فرو بردش ماهى و او بود نكوهيده
و ماهی دریا او را به کام فرو برد و او در خور ملامت بود.
درنتيجه، ماهي او را بلعيد و او بود كه بايد سرزنش مي شد.
So the large fish/whale swallowed/swallowed him quickly, and (while) he is blameworthy/blamed.
Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame.
then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy.
[and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. [In all the three instances where Jonah’s «great fish» is explicitly mentioned in the Quran (as al-hut in the above verse and in 68:48, and an-nun in 21:87), it carries the definite article al. This may possibly be due to the fact that the legend of Jonah was and is so widely known that every reference to the allegory of «the great fish» is presumed to be self-explanatory. The inside of the fish that «swallowed» Jonah apparently symbolizes the deep darkness of spiritual distress of which 21:87 speaks: the distress at having «fled like a runaway slave» from his prophetic mission and, thus, «from the presence of the Lord». Parenthetically, the story is meant to show that, since «man has been created weak»
En de visch verzwolg hem; want hij had eene bestraffing verdiend.
Thus a whale swallowed him, and he was the one to blame.
Lo inghiottì un pesce, mentre si rammaricava.
Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame.
Его проглотила рыба, когда он был достоин порицания.
Его проглотил кит, и он был достоин порицания.
So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself
And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy;
and a fish swallowed him, for he was to be blamed;
Derken, kendisini balık yutmuştu. O kendi kendini kınayıp duruyordu.
So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy,
Then the Fish grabbed him while he was blaming himself. (Again, usually a whale is mentioned here. But the whale is a mammal and not a fish, and the Qur’an which is never inaccurate, speaks of ‹Al-Hut› = The Fish. ‹Fa-altaqamahu› = Grabbed him in its teeth, not ‹swallowed›. Another interesting fact is that the whale only feeds on the tiniest plant particles, the planktons. Hence, her throat has been designed so narrow that it can’t swallow even a little cat. The fiction of Jonah staying 40 days in the belly of a whale is demolished right thus).
Consequently, the fish swallowed him, and he was the one to blame.
And the fish swallowed him, for he was blameworthy.
And the fish swallowed him; for he was worthy of reprehension.
And the fish swallowed him while he was reproaching himself.
Und der große Fisch verschlang ihn, indes er (
Его большая рыба проглотила, – ■ Так (Наше) порицание его постигло.
Аны дәрхәл бер зур балык йотты, вә ул Аллаһ рөхсәтеннән башка кавемен ташлап киткәне өчен үзен үзе шелтәлидер.
پھر مچھلی نے ان کو نگل لیا اور وہ (قابل) ملامت (کام) کرنے والے تھے
پھر مچھلی نے ان کو نگل لیا اور وہ (اپنے آپ پر) نادم رہنے والے تھے،
