قالَ يا إِبْلِيسُ ما مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِما خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعالِينَ

قال يا إبليس ما منعك أن تسجد لما خلقت بيديّ أستكبرت أم كنت من العالين

Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena

گفت : اي ابليس ، چه چيز تو را از سجده کردن در برابر آنچه من با دو، دست خود آفريده ام منع کرد ؟ آيا بزرگي فروختي يا مقامي ارجمند داشتي ؟

فرمود اى ابليس چه چيزى تو را از سجده به آنچه با دستان خويش آفريده ام، باز داشت؟ آيا كبر ورزيدى يا از بلندمرتبگان بودى؟

خدا فرمود: اى ابليس، چه چيز تو را مانع شد كه بآنچه من با دو دست قدرت و علم خويش خلق كرده‏ام سجده نكنى؟ آيا تكبر نمودى يا اينكه خود را برتر از ديگران يافتى؟

[خدا] فرمود: ای ابلیس! تو را چه چیزی از سجده کردن بر آنچه که با دستان قدرت خود آفریدم، بازداشت؟ آیا تکبّر کردی یا از بلند مرتبه گانی؟

خدا گفت اى ابليس چه چيز بازداشت ترا از آنكه سجده كنى مخلوقى را كه آفريده‏ام با دو دست (با توانائى و نيروى) خودم آيا تكبر كردى يا هستى تو از برتران

فرمود: «اى ابليس، چه چيز تو را مانع شد كه براى چيزى كه به دستان قدرت خويش خلق كردم سجده آورى؟ آيا تكبر نمودى يا از [جمله‏] برترى‏جويانى؟»

فرمود: «اى ابليس! چه چيز تو را از سجده كردن بر چيزى كه من آن را با قدرت خود آفريده‏ام مانع شد، آيا كبر ورزيدى يا برتر بودى؟»

[خدا] گفت: اى ابليس! ترا چه باز داشت كه سجده كنى بدانچه كه من به دو دست خويش آفريدم؟ آيا تكبّر نمودى يا [خود را] از برتران شمردى؟

گفت اى ابليس چه بازداشت ترا از آنكه سجده كنى آنرا كه آفريدم بدست قدرتم آيا بزرگى فروختى يا بودى از بلند مرتبگان

[خداوند] گفت: اى ابليس، چه چيز تو را بازداشت از آنكه براى آنچه به قدرت خويش آفريده‏ام، سجده كنى؟ كبر ورزيدى يا اينكه از بلند پايگان هستى؟

گفت: «ای ابلیس! چه چیز مانع تو شد که بر مخلوقی که با قدرت خود او را آفریدم سجده کنی؟! آیا تکبّر کردی یا از برترینها بودی؟! (برتر از اینکه فرمان سجود به تو داده شود!)»

[خداى‏] گفت: اى ابليس، تو را چه باز داشت از آنكه سجده كنى آن را كه با دو دست [قدرت‏] خويش آفريدم؟ آيا خود را بزرگ ديدى يا از برترى‏جويان بودى؟

گفت اى ابليس چه باز داشت ترا از آنكه سجده كنى آنرا كه آفريدم بدست قدرتم آيا بزرگى فروختى يا بودى از بلند مرتبگان

گفت اى ابليس چه بازداشت تو را از آنچه سجده كنى براى آنچه آفريدم با دستهايم آيا كبر ورزيدى يا شدى از برترى جويان

خدا به شیطان فرمود: ای ابلیس، تو را چه مانع شد که به موجودی (با قدر و شرافت) که من به دو دست (علم و قدرت) خود آفریدم سجده کنی؟آیا تکبر و نخوت کردی یا از فرشتگان بلند رتبه عالم قدس اعلا بودی (که نمی‌بایست سجده کنند).

او گفت: اي ابليس، چه چيز تو را از سجده در برابر آنچه من با دست هاي خود آفريدم، بازداشت؟ آيا بيش از حد متکبر هستي؟ آيا شورش کرده اي؟

He said: «You Satan , what prevented/prohibited you that you prostrate to what I created with My hands, did you become arrogant, or you were from the high and mighty?»

(Allah) said: «O Iblees (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?»

Said He, ‹Iblis, what prevented thee to bow thyself before that I created with My own hands? Hast thou waxed proud, or art thou of the lofty ones?›

Said He: «O Iblis! What has kept thee from prostrating thyself before that [being] which I have created with My hands? [Cf. the metaphorical phrase «the things which Our hands have wrought» in 36:71, explained in the corresponding note. In the present instance, the stress lies on the God-willed superiority of man’s intellect – which, like everything else in the universe, is God’s «handiwork» – over the rest of creation (see note on 2:34).] Art thou too proud [to bow down before another created being], or art thou of those who think [only] of themselves as high?» [This «question» is, of course, only rhetorical, since God is omniscient. The phrase interpolated by me («to bow down before another created being») reflects Zamakshari’s interpretation of this passage.]

God zeide tot hem: O Eblis! wat verhindert u, datgeene te vereeren, wat ik met mijne handen heb geschapen. Zijt gij opgeblazen door ijdele trotschheid? of zijt gij werkelijk iemand van verheven verdienste?

He said: "O Satan, what prevented you from submitting to what I have created by My hands? Are you too arrogant? Or are you one of those exalted?"

[Allah] disse: «O Iblis, cosa ti impedisce di prosternarti davanti a ciò che ho creato con le Mie mani? Ti gonfi d’orgoglio? Ti ritieni forse uno dei più elevati?»

(Allah) said: "O Iblees (Satan)! What prevents you from prostrating yourself to one whom I have created with Both My Hands. Are you too proud (to fall prostrate to Adam) or are you one of the high exalted?"

Он сказал: «О Иблис! Что помешало тебе пасть ниц перед тем, кого Я сотворили Своими обеими Руками? Ты возгордился или же принадлежишь к числу превозносящихся?»

[Аллах] спросил: «О Иблис! Что помешало тебе поклониться тому, кого я сотворил своею мощью? Ты возгордился или ты считаешь себя выше [других] ?»

He said: O Iblis! what prevented you that you should do obeisance to him whom I created with My two hands? Are you proud or are you of the exalted ones?

He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both
My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?

Said He, ‹O Iblis! what prevents thee from adoring what I have created with my two hands? art thou too big with pride? or art thou amongst the exalted?›

Allah dedi: «Ey İblis, iki elimle yarattığıma secde etmekten seni alıkoyan neydi? Burnu büyüklük mü ettin, yoksa yücelenlerden mi oldun?»

He (Allah) said: ‹iblis, what prevented you from prostrating yourself towards that which I have created with My Hands? Have you become too proud, or are you among the grand? ‹

Said He, «O Iblis! What has kept you from being submissive to that which I have created with My Hands? Are you too proud or are you of the rebellious?»

He said, «O Satan, what prevented you from prostrating before what I created with My hands? Are you too arrogant? Have you rebelled?»

«O Eblis,» said God, «what hindereth thee from prostrating thyself before him whom my hands have made? Is it that thou are puffed up with pride? or art thou a being of lofty merit?»

God said unto him, O Eblis, what hindreth thee from worshipping that which I have created with my hands? Art thou elated with vain pride? Or art thou really one of exalted merit?

God said, `O Iblis, what hindered thee from submitting to what I had created with MY two hands ? Is it that thou art too proud, or art thou really above obeying my command ?›

(Gott) sprach: «O Iblis, was hinderte dich daran, Ehrerbietung zu erweisen dem, den Ich mit Meinen beiden Händen geschaffen? Bist du zu stolz oder bist du der Erhabenen einer?»

(Аллах) сказал: ■ «О Иблис! Что помешало тебе ниц упасть пред тем, ■ Что сотворили Мои собственные Руки? ■ Ты возгордился или счел себя из высших?»

Аллаһу тәгалә әйтте: «Ий Иблис, Мин Үз кодрәтем белән яраткан Адәмгә сәҗдә кылудан сине нәрсә тыйды? Тәкәбберләндеңме? Яки бөекләрдән булдыңмы?»

خدا نے) فرمایا کہ اے ابلیس جس شخص کو میں نے اپنے ہاتھوں سے بنایا اس کے آگے سجدہ کرنے سے تجھے کس چیز نے منع کیا۔ کیا تو غرور میں آگیا یا اونچے درجے والوں میں تھا؟

(اﷲ نے) ارشاد فرمایا: اے ابلیس! تجھے کس نے اس (ہستی) کو سجدہ کرنے سے روکا ہے جسے میں نے خود اپنے دستِ (کرم) سے بنایا ہے، کیا تو نے (اس سے) تکبّر کیا یا تو (بزعمِ خویش) بلند رتبہ (بنا ہوا) تھا،
