قالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نارٍ وَ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ

قال أنا خير منه خلقتني من نار و خلقته من طين

Qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin

گفت : من از او بهترم مرا از آتش آفريده اي و او را از گل

گفت من بهتر از او هستم; [چر] كه مرا از آتش آفريده اى و او را از گل آفريده اى.

ابليس گفت: من از او بهترم، مرا از آتش خلق كردى و او را از گل (من بآدم خاكى سجده نميكنم)

گفت: من از او بهترم، مرا از آتش آفریدی و او را از گل ساختی.

ابليس گفت من بهترم از او آفريدى مرا از آتش و آفريدى او را از گل

گفت: «من از او بهترم؛ مرا از آتش آفريده‏اى و او را از گِل آفريده‏اى.»

گفت: «من از او بهترم! مرا از آتش آفريده‏اى و او را از گل.»

گفت: من از او بهترم. مرا از آتش آفريدى و او را از گل.

گفت من بهتر از آنم آفريدى مرا از آتش و آفريدى او را از گل

[ابليس‏] گفت: من از او بهترم. مرا از آتش آفريده‏اى و او را از گل آفريده‏اى

گفت: «من از او بهترم؛ مرا از آتش آفریده‌ای و او را از گل!»

گفت: من از وى بهترم، مرا از آتش آفريدى و او را از گِل.

گفت من بهتر از آنم آفريدى مرا از آتش و آفريدى او را از گل

گفت من بهترم از او مرا آفريدى از آتش و آفريدى او را از گِل

شیطان گفت: من از او بهترم، که مرا از آتش (نورانی سرکش) و او را از گل (تیره پست) خلقت کرده‌ای.

او گفت: من از او بهترم؛ تو مرا از آتش خلق کردي و او را از گل آفريدي.

He said: «I am better than him, You created me from fire and You created him from mud/clay .»

(Iblees (Satan)) said: «I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay.»

Said he, ‹I am better than he; Thou createdst me of tire, and him Thou createdst of clay.›

Answered [Iblis]: «I am better than he: Thou hast created me out of fire, [I.e., out of something non-corporeal and, therefore (in the view of Iblis), superior to the «clay» out of which man has been created. Inasmuch as «fire» is a symbol of passion, the above «saying» of Iblis contains, I believe, a subtle allusion to the Quranic concept of the «satanic forces» (shayatin) active within man’s own heart: forces engendered by uncontrolled passions and love of self, symbolized by the preceding characterization of Iblis, the foremost of the shayatin, as «one of those who think only of themselves as high» (min al-alin).] whereas him Thou hast created out of clay.»

Hij antwoordde: Ik ben uitnemender dan hij. Gij hebt mij van vuur geschapen, en hem hebt gij van klei gemaakt.

He said: "I am better than he; You created me from fire, and created him from clay."

Rispose: «Sono migliore di lui: mi hai creato dal fuoco, mentre creasti lui dalla creta».

(Iblees (Satan)) said: "I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay."

[Иблис] ответил: «Я лучше его. Ты сотворил меня из огня, а его – из глины».

He said: I am better than he; Thou hast created me of fire, and him Thou didst create of dust.

He said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire, whilst him Thou didst create of clay.

Said he, ‹I am better than he, Thou hast created me from fire, and him Thou hast created from clay.›

İblis dedi: «Ben ondan hayırlıyım! Beni ateşten yarattın, onu çamurdan yarattın.»

He (satan) replied: ‹I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay. ‹

Iblis replied, «I am better than he. You created me of fire while you created him of clay.» (Emotions are fiery in relation to the cool ‹clay› of higher controls).

He said, «I am better than he; You created me from fire, and created him from clay.»

He said: «I am more excellent than he; me hast thou created of fire: of clay hast thou created him.»

He answered, I am more excellent than he: Thou hast created me of fire, and hast created him of clay.

He said, `I am better than he. Thou hast created me of fire and him hast Thou created of clay.›

Er sprach: «Ich bin besser als er. Du erschufst mich aus Feuer und ihn hast Du aus Ton erschaffen.»

(И тот) сказал: ■ «Его я лучше! Ведь из огня меня Ты сотворил, ■ Его же – из (ничтожной) глины».

Иблис әйтте: «Мин Адәмнән хәерлерәкмен, чөнки мине уттан яраттың, Адәмне исә балчыктан яраттың».

بولا کہ میں اس سے بہتر ہوں (کہ )تو نے مجھ کو کو آگ سے پیدا کیا اور اِسے مٹی سے بنایا

اس نے (نبی کے ساتھ اپنا موازنہ کرتے ہوئے) کہا کہ میں اس سے بہتر ہوں، تو نے مجھے آگ سے بنایا ہے اور تو نے اِسے مٹی سے بنایا ہے،
