فَعَقَرُوها فَأَصْبَحُوا نادِمِينَ

فعقروها فأصبحوا نادمين

FaAAaqarooha faasbahoo nadimeena

آن را پي کردند و پشيمان شدند

آنگاه آن را پى كردند، و سپس پشيمان شدند.

(قوم صالح سخنان او را دروغ پنداشتند) آن گاه ناقه را كشتند و سحرگاهان از كرده خود پشيمان گشتند.

پس ناقه را پی کردند و [از کار خود] پشیمان شدند،

پس پى كردند آن شتر را و (به هنگام معاينه عذاب) گرديدند پشيمان

پس آن را پى كردند و پشيمان گشتند.

سرانجام شتر را پى كردند و پس از آن پشيمان شدند.

ولى [قوم صالح‏] او را پى كردند، پس پشيمان شدند.

پس پى كردند آنرا پس گشتند پشيمانان

پس او را پى كردند، آن گاه پشيمان شدند

سرانجام بر آن (ناقه) حمله نموده آن را «پی» کردند؛ (و هلاک نمودند) سپس از کرده خود پشیمان شدند!

پس آن را پى كردند- كشتند- آنگاه پشيمان گشتند.

پس پى كردند آنرا پس گشتند پشيمانان

پس پى كردندش پس بامداد كردند پشيمانان

قوم صالح ناقه را پی کردند، سپس از کار خود پشیمان شدند.

آنها او را فجيعانه کشتند، و اين چنين به غم و اندوه گرفتار شدند.

So they wounded it/slaughtered it/made it infertile, so they became/became in the morning regretful/remorseful .

But they killed her, and then they became regretful.

But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful,

But they cruelly slaughtered her – and then they had cause to regret it: [Lit., «they became regretful». For my rendering of aqaruha as «they cruelly slaughtered her», see note on 7:77.]

Maar zij doodden haar en berouwden hunne boosheid.

But they slaughtered her, and they became regretful.

Le tagliarono i garretti, ma ebbero a pentirsene!

But they killed her, and then they became regretful.

Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful,

But they killed her and made way for their own humiliation. (The usual rendering here of FAASBAHOO NADIMEEN that they regretted, repented or became penitent seems to be incorrect, since in that case the Most Gracious might have forgiven them).

They slaughtered her, and thus incurred sorrow.

But they ham-strung her, and repented of it on the morrow;

But they slew her; and were made to repent of their impiety:

But they hamstrung her; and then they became remorseful.

Sie aber schnitten ihr die Sehnen durch; und danach wurden sie reuig.
